ONLY A FEW OF THE AMAZING PROJECTS STUDENTS CREATED FOR OUR UNIT ON THE MIDDLE AGES!!!
Students in our First period class attempted to build shelters out of materials that were found outside to better understand the hardships peasants and serfs experienced during the middle ages. Since these 2 groups of people were the lowest class in society, their homes would have been poorly built and not effective at shielding people from the elements.
Period 5 demonstrated their knowledge today by coming up with 43 different words to describe Pollice Verso, or Thumbs Down, an 1872 piece of art illustrating the gladiator games of Rome. Students were also able to determine that Rome was a large city, had social classes, an Emperor, and were extremely intelligent people who were able to construct incredible pieces of architecture like the Colosseum all from analyzing this one image.
